Welcome to the Music section of project GCSE. In the music section we cover 4 areas for GCSE Music. Make sure you understand all the words in the "useful words to know" section as they are likely to come up in your exam.
  • The listening exam. Information on what you will need to know to complete the listening exam.
  • Musical history. In the musical history area we have information on 6 areas of musical history, these are: Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern.
  • Genres of music. We have revision notes on the following genres of music: Always, Baroque, Baroque Onwards, Classical Onwards, and Renaissance.
  • Instruments and their families. We cover the following families of instruments: Strings, Brass, Woodwind, Keyboards, Percussion. For each family we not only have some general information but also many examples of instruments.
  • Useful words to know. This page should provide the meanings to many useful words that you need to know for GCSE music.
  • World music. Information on music from around the world including notes on India, West and North Africa.
