National Parks are:
Areas of beautiful countryside that are being preserved for the future.

Set up by an act of parliament in 1949.

There are 10 National Parks in England and Wales.

The main purposes of National Parks are to preserve the countryside, improve the local economy, protect wildlife and historic buildings and provide recreation.
