GCSE Geography> Leisure and tourism> Honeypots> Alton Towers
Situated in Staffordshire near Stoke-on-Trent.

There are thousands of visitors yearly.

Many schools visit Alton Towers as well as many other groups. There are discount rates on groups to encourage this.

Alton Towers used to be a Stately Home with a small fun-fair.

It has now developed into a major theme park.

Alton Towers has a new ride built each year to encourage visitors to come back.

Access is only by long winding country roads! No main road access.

It is based in quite isolated countryside.

Large rides cause visual pollution to neighbours.

There are many shops, restaurants etc within the park.

The litter problem is sorted out internally.

Large areas of countryside are taken over for parking.

There is a problem with traffic congestion around the park at opening and closing times.
