Welcome to the Food Technology section of project GCSE. In the Food technology section we have revision notes on four important areas. These are: Food safety and hygiene, specific foods, effects of ingredients, food preparation, nutrients and vegetarian food.

Food safety and hygiene. Food safety and hygiene is a very important aspect of making food so there are likely to be questions on it in the exam. Try and learn the points for safety in the kitchen and hygiene in the kitchen.

Specific foods. In this section we have information on specific foods. This includes how they are made, what they can be used for and some information on nutrition.

Effects of ingredients. In the exam you may be asked to adapt a recipe. To be able to do this, you will need to know the effects various ingredients have on a product.

Food preparation. The food preparation area covers other important topics such as HACCP. You are likely to be asked to write a list of HACCPs in the exam or highlight them from a recipe given.

Nutrients. Information on all the important food groups including their function, sources and general information.

Vegetarian Foods. Vegetarianism is becoming more and more popular - there may well be a question on it in your exam.
